Vaccination for Poultry Sold in Kemiri Muka Market
The Agriculture Office of Depok municipality in collaboration with the Livestock Services Office of West Java had conducted vaccination on poultry sold in several poultry stalls in Kemiri Muka Market in Depok on Friday (15/2/2008). Vaccination was done to prevent the spread of bird flu in the market.
Attending that event was Mayor of Depok, Nur Mahmudi Ismail and administrative officers of Depok city. Head of the Agriculture Office of Depok municipality, Rumanul Hidayat, said that this vaccination is a form of concern and prevention of H5N1 viruses in markets. It was also said that poultry marketed will have certificates from the Agriculture Offices and this certificate is meant to be a sign that the poultry is safe for consumption. This was all done for the benefit of people consuming poultry. Rumanul also said that hiss office will conduct cleaning in a number of markets selling poultry. Stalls will be cleaned and sterilized [disinfected].
