District of Tangerang and Bird Flu

The Indonesian Ministry of Health has chosen Tangerang District a pilot project for bird flu mitigation after several considerations and also because cases in this area were quite high. Head of the District Agriculture and Livestock Office of Tangerang, Didi Aswadi, said that the pilot project will effectively start in the beginning of year 2008 and will go on for 2.5 years. But, the pilot project has already been done from quite a long time ago, especially on how bird flu is spread.

According to schedule, there are four farmer groups in Tangerang district which will be organized; they are temporary farmers, business branch, main source of living, and farming industries. In this pilot project, the District Health Office of Tangerang will only assist the Livestock Office. (sul)
